Dominion Energy is the largest utility company in Virginia, and it serves the most densely-populated metropolitan areas of the Commonwealth like Richmond, Hampton Roads, Charlottesville and Northern Virginia. On the map below, the Dominion service area is yellow.
But did you know Dominion is not the only utility in Virginia? Virginia has two investor-owned electric utilities serving customers here. The other is Appalachian Power, also known as APCo, represented in red on the map below – the nearest APCo service area comes to central Virginia is Lynchburg. There are and many smaller coops that depend on the larger utility companies to obtain power to serve their users.
Some coops are leading the way in solar energy investments, others have had very few customers request to connect solar to the grid and will become more experienced with solar in the coming years. Whoever supplies your energy, Ipsun Power is here to help you navigate your clean energy options.
